We became very close to them by the end of the trek and can say that they made the trip perfect for us. We could not have asked for anything more. We would also recommend you definitely ask for Manoj and Lok who absolutely made our trek extremely enjoyable and memorable. It's a nice short trek for those who can't stay for the 20 day Annapurna Base camp trek. Overall we would highly recommend taking this trek. The Dholagiri mountain range unfortunately for us was under clouds. Luckily we were still able to get a great view of many of the mountains such as Fish Tail, Annapurna I and Annapurna South. Since it was the rainy season there was a huge risk of cloud cover completely obscuring the beautiful views at the top. We woke up at 4am and trekked in the dark with head lamps to around 10,000 ft elevation at Poon hill. The highlight of the trip was our sunrise trek on the morning of the third day to the top of Poon hill. On the first day we started out in the village of Tikidunga and ended in Ulleriįourth day was Tadapani back to Ghandruk where we took our jeep back to Pokhara. The first 3 days were generally uphill or up what seemed to be endless stairs and on the last day we coasted downhill which still can be tough on the knees and glutes. We would hike during the day for 3-5 hours and end in the early afternoon at the guest house where we stayed for the night. The trek itself was very strenuous and although we were able to make decent time each day we would definitely recommend being in overall fit/athletic form They taught us how to play Dhumbal, a fun and easy to learn Nepali card game. On one of the nights we sat and played cards with Manoj and Lok. At night there's a lot of downtime so we would recommend bringing a book or a deck of cards. During the meals, Manoj or Lok would take our order and bring our meals out. Once we arrived we would have lunch/dinner and generally explored the area by ourselves. Going at a quicker pace would get us to our guest house earlier in the day. We were able to set the pace and stop for breaks whenever we liked. ![]() He would sit and play music using reeds so we could often hear him in the distance as we approached Sometimes we would meet Lok at checkpoints where there were villages but most of the time he would just go up ahead at a slightly quicker pace and then wait for us. Manoj was able to tell us the exact elevation of all the mountains on the Annapurna range by memory, an impressive feat! Lok as our porter carried one big bag which held all the majority of our belongings while we carried a day bag with things like water, snacks, and other necessities. The atmosphere was always relaxed and easy going. They would teach us Nepali phrases and we would joke around. ![]() Manoj and Lok would tell us stories and explain to us things like the history of the trek or the mountains. We went during the rainy season so although there were risks of encountering leeches Manoj and Lok were always keeping an eye out to warn us whenever we had them on our boots. Whether it was treading on slippery terrain or looking out for leeches they were constantly on the look out. The roads were very muddy and steep and we would often go along cliff side roads but our experienced driver handled it perfectlyĭuring the trek Manoj and Lok were always looking out for our well being and comfort, always alert and making sure we were having a good time. The only downsides to the bus were that the AC vents were broken in some seats so look out for those before picking a seat and there hadn't been any wireless internet as advertised on the side of the bus.Īfter staying in Pokhara for a day Manoj and Lok arrived the next morning and we took an all terrain jeep to the village of Hile. The seats were roomy and comfortable, we were given a snack and water bottle at the start of the bus ride and it included a lunch stop at a hotel on the way. We booked the Deluxe bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara. He would meet us later separately at our hotel in Pokhara. ![]() Manoj arrived the next day and walked us to our bus to Pokhara. ![]() He told us not to worry about anything since he would be there to take care of us every step of the way We were a little anxious prior to the trip but after meeting with Manoj we felt much more at ease. He was very thorough, telling us about the weather, what to pack, what we could expect and answering any and all of the questions we had. Manoj explained to us the overall plan and logistics of the trek and what we would do each day. We met up with Manoj at our hotel in Thamel one day before our bus ride to Pokhara. We did the 4 day/3 night trek to Poon Hill with our guide Manoj Adhikari and our porter Lok Pandey.
